31.7.1997. Analysis of July 1997 in Euskal Herria.

THE "JULIAZO". IN JULY 1997 THE SPANISH GOVERNMENT ORGANISED AGAINST THE BASQUE LEFT NATIONALIST MOVEMENT THE BIGGEST FASCIST MOBILISATION KNOWN IN EUROPE SINCE THE EXTINCTION OF NAZI GERMANY.

      11. The sociologist Carlos Malo de Molina prostituted his profession when he allowed that, in order to support the made up news that HB would lose 30.000 votes after the death of the PP councillor, EL MUNDO roughly distorted a poll directed by him.

«What has changed in the Basque Country? What has changed in Spain? HB would lose 20% of their votes if elections were held now. 30,000 Basque citizens would withdraw their support from the coalition, according to the first poll after Miguel Angel Blanco was killed, to be published starting tomorrow in EL MUNDO». These were the front page titles of EL MUNDO’s edition for the Basque Country on Saturday 19. The sociologist Carlos Malo de Molina has prostituted his profession, has denied himself as a scientist and as a sociologist when allowing EL MUNDO to distort in that way the poll by him directed at request of the newspaper.

Let’s see: the poll was made upon a sample of 800 electors (persons older than 18 within the Basque Autonomous Community), with a maximum probable margin of error (p/q=50/50) of more than plus minus 3.5% for a trustfulness level of 95.5% (two sigma). But it was the maximum probable margin of error for the WHOLE sample, for the results referring to the 800 people interviewed. If the sample were amazing and unusually perfect (something we can’t know as EL MUNDO doesn’t publish the size of the sub-samples) among the 800 must have been 70 that voted HB at the general elections in 1996. Because at these elections HB’s 154,853 voters summed up 8.7% of the electoral roll of 1,777,108 voters of the Basque Autonomous Community (15).

Let us leave Navarre aside (we don’t know why it isn’t included in the poll) where HB amounted 26,451 votes at these elections, which makes a total of 181,000 «accomplices». And let us stress the fact that the answers to a sub-sample of 70 people have a maximum probable margin of error (two sigma) of plus minus 11.7%. That means that if 50% said GREEN and 50% said RED we have 95.5% of certainty that if the 154,853 voters had been asked, between 38.3% (50-11.7) and 61.7% (50+11.7) would have said GREEN. Does anybody think that with that margin of error it is decent to MAKE UP that 20% of the HB voters have abandoned it?

But the fact is that apart from these not at all small or innocent HIDINGS, such as the rate of «no answer» and abstentions to the question of voting intention, which doesn’t let us know how many among these 800 interviewed said what and who they would vote for, EL MUNDO makes a bizarre concealment in order to distort. THEY HIDE that the rate given by the poll to HB (12.9%) is HIGHER (!!!!!) than the actual rate (12.5%) obtained on 3 March 1996. That is, they hide that -according to their poll- the death of the councillor HAS IMPROVED almost half a point HB’s vote percentage in relation to last elections.

There are some other severe objections to raise about the poll (an incredibly wily question and nonsense wording for instance) but the important thing at this point is to denounce the INVENTION of a news (the 30.000 votes lost by HB after 12 July 1997) and that was despite clapped and broadcast by TVs, radios and the rest of the media. And used by politicians for their «brainy» analyses. Analyses later given out with solemn donkey voice and faces.

      12. EL MUNDO, following what EL PAIS began, got also involved in Spanish cyberterrorism, by the fascist attack to freedom of speech Spanish «pacifists» made on the US node of APC (Association for Progress in Communications).
